Peking House - Lakeland: Reviews & Ratings
I am glad I found this restaurant on Google. The food is fresh hot very tasty. I didn’t need to add anything extra no sauce no nothing. And the service is great everyone there is very nice
Wanted that more traditional Chinese experience, but I think this restaurant has more of a fast food jive while masquerading as a full restaurant. Prices are reflective of that as well Staff was great, both friendly and consistent in service. Food was ok.
Coke was flat. Even after they "fixed" it. Had to buy a bottled water. Iced tea tasted bitter. They serve you some sort of potato sticks when you arrive. I thought it was sweet and sour sauce with them, but it tasted like ketchup. Krab Rangoons were ok, but mostly cream cheese with very little krab or seasoning. It was served with the same "ketchup." Steamed dumplings were chewy and tasted old. Beef & Broccoli was good. General GSO chicken was swimming in too much sauce. I prefer the chicken to be crispier. It was ok. Will not try again.
Service was fast to bring out the food. The fried dumplings were great but the dipping sauce was very salty. The Generals Chicken was very good.
I enjoyed my visit to Peking House for lunch. I liked the idea behind the Chinese chips and dip (see picture) it was very original. The flavors were very good in the sesame chicken I had. The crab Rangoon was good, not quite great. Also they were a little less than generous with the rice portion while the chicken sesame portion was excellent. Even though the decor was dated, I would view it more as Classic. I was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly.

Welcome to Peking House - Lakeland, a charm nestled on Florida Avenue, where traditional Chinese cuisine meets a touch of contemporary flair. This inviting eatery, located at 2411 Florida Ave S, Lakeland, FL 33803, is an ode to both authenticity and casual dining, presenting a menu filled with vibrant flavors that cater to diverse palates.
The moment you step inside, you're greeted by an ambiance that speaks to a classic Chinese dining experience, albeit with traces of modernity. The staff, consistently described as warm and accommodating by patrons, ensures that your visit is marked by excellent service. The reviews speak volumes about how the team strives to deliver a pleasant dining atmosphere, echoing a sense of hospitality that many find comforting.
Highlighting the menu, many diners rave about the freshness and taste of the dishes. A standout option is the General Tso's Chicken, which some customers enjoyed for its flavor, although a few prefer a less saucy approach for a crispier texture. There's also praise for the Beef & Broccoli, noted for its savory blend of flavors. Reviewers like Wayne appreciated the quick service and quality of the fried dumplings, asserting their status as a must-try when visiting.
However, the experience isn't without its critiques. Some customers have expressed disappointment with items like the Krab Rangoons, citing a lack of substantial filling, and the accompanying sauces have received mixed reviews. A common theme has been the inconsistency in drink offerings, with flat sodas and bitter iced tea drawing some scrutiny. Yet, it's essential to note that every dining experience is subjective, and many still find joy in the flavors presented.
For those who may prefer a more traditional Chinese setting, Peking House could present a slight departure. The fast-casual edge noted by some suggests that while the cuisine isn't strictly traditional, it certainly endeavors to please the modern diner. The unique appetizer of "Chinese chips and dip" is a testament to this innovative approach, merging flavor with fun.
In conclusion, Peking House - Lakeland stands as a worthwhile culinary destination, especially for locals craving quick yet delightful Chinese fare.
